representative of the governor today. They promised that the government would pay the hospital bill of my son.
“We demand the arrest of the policeman who fired the shot. His wife has been inconsolable since the incident happened.”
Meanwhile, a state delegation on Wednesday visited Saheed at the teaching hospital, as well as members of his family in Iragbiji.
The delegation, led by the Special Adviser on Works and Transport, Hussein Olaniyan, also had the Special Adviser on Security, Mrs Abiodun Ige, and the State Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, as members.
Olaniyan said the visit was meant to demonstrate government’s sensitivity to citizens’ welfare and promised that the state would foot the medical bill of the victim.
A statement by the Ismail Omipidan, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, also said Olabomi, appreciated the visit of the government’s delegation.
However, the Osun State Police Command kept silence on the identity of the policeman that fired the shot.
Recall that Saheed, a father of two, was shot in the face along Old Oba Road, Osogbo, when his motorcycle ran into a gridlock.
Some riot policemen were said to be clearing the gridlock when the victim arrived at the scene.
After clearing the gridlock, some of the policemen reportedly fired shots into the air, one of which hit the victim in the face.
The mobile phone of the spokesperson for Osun Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, rang out. A text message asking for the identity of the cop that fired the shot had yet to be replied to as of the time of filing this report.
